PulseEdge ("the App") is developed and published by CauGiay Hotel ("we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what data the App and the third-party services it uses collect, why, and how you can control it.
1. Data we collect directly
PulseEdge has no backend server of its own — the App does not send your data to any server we operate. Your settings and content are stored only on your device, using local app storage:
- AOD background photo — if you choose a photo from your gallery as an Always-On-Display background, it is cropped and saved to the App's private local storage. It is never uploaded anywhere.
- Now-playing track info — while granted Notification Access, the App reads the title, artist,
and artwork of the track currently playing (via Android's
MediaSessionManager) to display it on the AOD screen and to pick a matching color palette. This information is read live and is not stored beyond the current session or sent off your device. - Installed app list — used only to populate the "Show on these apps" picker, so you can choose which apps trigger the edge-lighting effect. This list stays on your device.
- App preferences (colors, effect style, which apps trigger the effect, AOD layout, etc.) — stored locally via Android DataStore.
2. Permissions the App requests, and exactly what each is for
| Permission | What it is used for |
|---|---|
Microphone (RECORD_AUDIO) |
The App uses Android's Visualizer API to read the amplitude of audio already playing out of your device's speaker, so the edge-light animation can react to music. The App does not record, save, or transmit any audio. If you deny this permission, the effect falls back to a Random Mode that does not use the microphone. |
Display over other apps (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW) |
Required to draw the edge-lighting overlay on top of other apps, and to launch the AOD screen while the App is in the background. |
| Notification access | Required by Android to (a) count notifications so a badge can be shown on the AOD screen, and (b) read the currently-playing media session (song title/artist/artwork) described in Section 1. We do not read, store, or transmit the content of your notifications. |
Usage access (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS) |
Lets the App detect which app is currently in the foreground, so the edge-lighting effect can be shown only on the apps you select. |
See installed apps (QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES) |
Populates the app-picker list described above. |
| Post notifications | Shows the persistent notification required while the background service that keeps the overlay/AOD running is active. |
| Foreground service / media playback service | Keeps the overlay and audio listener running while the App is not on screen. |
Phone state (READ_PHONE_STATE) |
Used only to detect an active call, so the effect can pause automatically during calls. |
Fingerprint sensor (USE_FINGERPRINT) |
Lets you dismiss the AOD lock screen with a sensor touch. The App only receives a "sensor touched" event from Android — it never shows a system biometric prompt and never has access to your fingerprint data itself. |
| Boot completed | Restarts the edge-lighting effect automatically after you restart your device. |
| Wake lock | Keeps the screen on while the overlay or AOD screen is actively displayed. |
| Internet / network state | Used by the third-party SDKs listed in Section 3 (advertising, analytics, crash reporting, billing) — the App's own code makes no network requests. |
You can review or revoke Notification access, Display-over-other-apps, and Usage access at any time in Android Settings → Apps → PulseEdge → Permissions (or the equivalent special-access screens). Revoking a permission may disable the related feature (see the table above) but will not affect any other part of the App.
3. Third-party services
PulseEdge's release build includes the following third-party SDKs, which operate under their own privacy policies and may collect data such as your advertising ID, device identifiers, general device/ app information, crash diagnostics, and usage events:
- Google AdMob / Google Mobile Ads / mediation partners — advertising. Even though no ad is currently shown on a live screen in this app version, the ad SDK is included and initialized in the release build, so it may collect advertising identifiers and device data starting from install. See Google's Privacy & Terms and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
- Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) — shows the consent form required for users in the EEA/UK and manages your consent choices for personalized advertising.
- Firebase Analytics — app usage and interaction events. See Firebase and Google Privacy.
- Firebase Crashlytics — crash reports and diagnostic data to help us fix bugs.
- Firebase Remote Config — fetches non-personal configuration values.
- Adjust — install attribution measurement. See Adjust Privacy Policy.
- Meta (Facebook) Android SDK — app events and advertising identifiers for attribution/marketing measurement. See Meta Privacy Policy.
- TikTok Business SDK — app events and advertising identifiers for attribution/marketing measurement. See TikTok Privacy Policy.
- AppLovin — mediation partner used by our ad SDK; no live ad placement in this app version. See AppLovin Privacy Policy.
- Google Play Billing — processes Premium purchases (weekly, monthly, and lifetime plans). Payment details are handled entirely by Google Play; we never see or store your payment card information. Google Play shares purchase/subscription status with us so the App can unlock Premium features.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not control what these third parties do with data they collect independently under their own privacy policies — please review the links above.
4. Advertising ID and opt-out
Some of the SDKs above may use your device's advertising ID for measurement and (in future versions) personalized ads. You can reset or limit this at any time in Android Settings → Google → Ads (or Privacy → Ads, depending on your Android version), including "Delete advertising ID" on Android 12+.
5. Data retention and deletion
- Content you store locally (AOD background photo, preferences) stays on your device until you delete it in-app or uninstall the App. Uninstalling the App removes this data from your device.
- We do not operate a server that stores your personal data, so there is no developer-side account or database to request deletion from. For data the third-party SDKs in Section 3 may hold (e.g. advertising ID, crash logs, attribution events), use the opt-out/deletion mechanisms provided by each service, or contact us at the address below and we will help you exercise those rights where we can.
6. Children's privacy
PulseEdge is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will address it.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live (e.g. under GDPR or CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Because PulseEdge stores your content locally rather than on our servers, most of these rights are exercised directly on your device (deleting content in-app, revoking permissions, or uninstalling). For anything that involves the third-party services in Section 3, contact us and we will assist.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective date" above. Continued use of the App after a change means you accept the updated policy.
