GamePad Controller ("the App") is developed and published by CauGiay Hotel ("we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what happens to information when you use the App.
GamePad Controller works entirely on your device. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to our servers or to any third party. The App has no user accounts, no advertising, no analytics, and no crash-reporting software. The only network activity the App performs is looking for game consoles on your own local Wi-Fi network, as described below.
What the App does
GamePad Controller turns your phone's screen into an on-screen game controller (D-pad, action buttons, shoulder buttons) and includes a feature to find game consoles that are connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your phone, so you can add one by its local network address. The App does not stream video games, does not provide remote play, and does not take control of any physical console — it only helps you locate and label a device on your own network.
Information we do not collect
We do not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide your name, email address, or any other personal identifier to use the App. We do not use any advertising SDK, analytics SDK, or crash-reporting SDK. No usage data, device identifiers, or advertising identifiers are collected or sent anywhere.
Information stored only on your device
The App stores the following information locally on your device only, using Android's on-device storage (DataStore preferences). This information never leaves your device and we never receive a copy of it:
- Console entries you add — the local network (LAN) IP address and the nickname you choose to give a console you add manually or discover on your Wi-Fi network.
- Controller preferences — settings you choose, such as button size, button opacity, vibration on/off, and whether the background demo video is shown.
Because this data is stored only on your device, uninstalling the App or clearing the App's storage from Android Settings → Apps → GamePad Controller → Storage removes it completely.
Permissions the App uses and why
| Permission | Why the App requests it |
|---|---|
INTERNET |
Required by Android to send and receive network packets on your local Wi-Fi network when looking for consoles. The App does not use this permission to contact any remote server operated by us or any third party. |
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE |
Lets the App check whether your device currently has a Wi-Fi/network connection, so it can tell you when it cannot search for consoles. |
CHANGE_WIFI_MULTICAST_STATE |
Lets the App send and listen for local network discovery broadcasts (multicast/UDP) so it can find consoles on the same Wi-Fi network as your phone. This does not give the App, or us, access to anything outside your local network. |
The App does not request location, camera, microphone, contacts, storage, or any other sensitive permission.
Local network discovery, in plain terms
When you open the console-finder screen, the App broadcasts and listens for messages on your local Wi-Fi network only (the same network your phone is already connected to). This is comparable to how a printer or a smart-TV app finds other devices on your home network. This traffic stays inside your local network; it is not sent to CauGiay Hotel or to any server on the internet.
Third-party services
The App does not integrate any third-party advertising network, analytics platform, or crash-reporting service. We do not share information with third parties because we do not collect any information to share.
Children's privacy
The App is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. Because the App does not collect personal data from any user, no additional children-specific data-collection concerns apply.
Data retention and deletion
We do not hold any of your data on our servers, so there is nothing for us to retain or delete on our end. All information described above lives only on your device, under your control. To remove it, uninstall the App or clear its app storage in your device's Settings.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example if the App's features change. Any changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
