Privacy Policy — Tilt Veil

Effective date: September 30, 2026  ·  Publisher: CauGiay Hotel

CauGiay Hotel ("we," "us," "our") publishes the Android application Tilt Veil (package com.privacyscreen.tiltdim.tiltveil, the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what data the App and the third-party services it uses collect, why, and what choices you have. It applies to this build of the App as published on Google Play.

Questions about this policy: cghotel1206@gmail.com.

1. What Tilt Veil does

Tilt Veil is a screen-privacy utility. It reads your device's rotation sensor to detect how far you've tilted your phone, and when the tilt passes a threshold you set, it draws a dimming or patterned overlay on top of whatever screen you're looking at — so someone glancing at your phone from an angle can't read it. A second mode lets you toggle the overlay on and off from a floating bubble. You can optionally limit the overlay to a specific list of apps you choose.

All of this runs entirely on your device. Tilt Veil does not have user accounts, does not require sign-in, and does not operate any server that receives your activity, your screen content, or the apps you use. The sections below describe exactly what data the App's underlying components collect.

2. Data you provide

Tilt Veil does not ask you to create an account, sign in, or enter any personal information (name, email, phone number, etc.). There is nothing to "provide" to us directly.

3. Data collected automatically

3.1 Settings and preferences — stored only on your device

Your dimming intensity, tilt-angle threshold, protection mode, and the list of apps you've chosen to protect are saved locally on your device using Android's DataStore. This data is never transmitted to us or to anyone else, is not backed up to any account, and is deleted automatically if you uninstall the App.

3.2 Foreground app name — used only locally, only if you grant Usage Access

If you choose to limit the overlay to specific apps, Tilt Veil requests the Usage Access special permission (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS) so it can tell which app is currently in the foreground and decide whether to show the overlay. Tilt Veil reads only the package name of the app in front — never screen content, never a history of what you've used — and this information is processed on-device and discarded immediately; it is not stored or sent anywhere.

If you do not grant this permission, the overlay simply applies to every app — the App tells you this in its own settings screen.

3.3 Analytics, crash reporting, and remote configuration — Firebase (Google)

Tilt Veil uses the following Google Firebase services, which collect data on Google's servers under Google's Privacy Policy:

3.4 Advertising SDK — Google AdMob and User Messaging Platform (UMP)

Tilt Veil ships with Google's AdMob SDK and its User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent library, which initialize on launch and run a consent flow. This build of the App does not display any advertising — there is no ad placement anywhere in its screens. However, because the SDKs initialize, they interact with your device's advertising identifier and related ad-service identifiers as part of Google's standard advertising/consent framework, consistent with Google AdMob's data disclosure. If we enable ads in a future version, this policy and the App's Play Store listing will be updated accordingly before that version is published.

3.5 Permissions the App requests, and why

PermissionWhat it's for
Display over other apps (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW)Required to draw the privacy overlay on top of other apps — this is the App's core function.
Usage Access (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS)Optional; lets the App detect the foreground app so it can apply the overlay only to apps you've selected. See §3.2.
Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS)Shows a persistent notification with Pause/Resume controls while protection is running in the background.
Run in foreground (FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USE)Keeps the overlay active while the App is not the app you're currently looking at.
Vibrate (VIBRATE)Haptic feedback when you turn protection on or off.
Internet / network state (INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE, ACCESS_WIFI_STATE)Used by the Firebase and AdMob SDKs described above, not by any App feature directly.

4. Data we do NOT collect

Tilt Veil does not collect your name, email address, phone number, precise or approximate location, contacts, photos, videos, microphone or camera input, health or fitness data, financial or payment information, SMS/call logs, or your web browsing history. The App does not read or store screen content from other apps, and does not keep a history of which apps you've opened.

5. How data is shared

We do not sell your data. The only sharing that occurs is the data described in §3.3–3.4 flowing to Google (Firebase and AdMob/UMP are Google services), governed by Google's Privacy Policy. We do not share data with any other third party.

6. Data retention and deletion

Your on-device settings (§3.1) are stored only on your device and are removed the moment you uninstall the App — there is no server copy to delete. Data collected by Firebase/AdMob (§3.3–3.4) is retained by Google under Google's own retention policies; you can reset your advertising identifier or opt out of personalized ads/analytics from your device's system settings at any time. To stop all data collection by the App, uninstall it.

7. Your choices and rights

8. Children's privacy

Tilt Veil is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at cghotel1206@gmail.com and we will address it.

9. International data transfers

Firebase and AdMob/UMP may process data on servers located outside your country, as described in Google's Privacy Policy.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective date" above. Continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
